So I am wondering whats going on with this. I kinda feel now that they are done with their 10th Anniversery things they might have more time to do other stuff. I know last we left off Birju was looking into venu info. Maybe we could start sending things to Volks to see what they think?? Any thoughts??

I have information for Schaumburg and Lombard but did not finish O'Hare hotel sites. I have a draft proposal written with hotel info broken down with pros and cons on the sites chosen with charts with relative pricing and what help we may be able to provide to them: security, help, set up, etc. I also offered to personally place a down payment for the site they choose with an understanding that I get reimbursed from the proceeds of the entry fees. I had to put it on hold because of the holidays and now because we just moved last week. I will make a push to finish and get it out ASAP.

And BCN, sadly, no...I'm afraid that Nena wouldn't give them to me. >.>

I'm hoping she still has them and might change her mind. Embarassed

Only Nena would know, since they went directly to her PO box. Sad But I know my original letter, BCN's and Tiarah's were among them. Those that were sent to Tiarah with the cranes all made it, though.

I would be more than happy to rewrite mine! We could also go through the old letter thread on DOA and pm every person who might have mentioned sending one to Nena.

i certainly wouldn't mind re-writing if i was one of the "lost" letters Smile And i have a friend or two who could write also, post the link to what the letters should say (in general) and i'll PM them. lots of them will be in town for ACEN and they can give me their letters and i can pass them on to you or Blackcatnya at a meet.

I'd be happy to start up another letter writing campaign on the Dairyland forum!

That is awesome! I don't think we had much of a template. In my own letter, I praised Volks for having a store and events in the USA and asked if they might consider Chicago as a place for an event someday. I talked about how Chicago was a port city with lots of travel options and convention space. I told them they had many Midwestern fans who would be more than happy to volunteer their help.

Thank you also, Greeniebone! That is a great idea!

I'll start something up on Dairyland right away!

And you guys probably know this already, but the box of cranes was mentioned in the official 10-year history Super Dollfie, on superdollfie.net : http://superdollfie.net/en/10th_sd/history/y2008_2.html I thought that was so amazing and cool!

EDIT: Dairyland topic started here: http://www.dairylandbjd.com/forum/showthread.php?p=34150

That's cool but the way it was worded sounds like they think they appeased us with the web dolpa. :/

Oh, I didn't take it that way at all - the fact that they acknowledged it publicly as part of their 10 year history tells me that it made a big impact on them. I think it was more of an immediate way of saying thank you, kind of a return compliment as it were, rather than a brush off. The letter that they sent back personally at the time was too gracious for me to think otherwise.

I hope your right Star. That would suck if the web dolpa was what they gave us... That why I feel like we need to send them the info. We have waited awhile so maybe they think we stopped trying. ><,

I agree. I don't think the Web Dolpa was in any way a result of the letters and cranes.

I honestly think the Web Dolpa was simply a result of not being able to schedule something in CA in time, and also the expense of scheduling such an event during an economic downturn affecting both Japan and the USA. Although it may have seemed lame in comparison to the live events, let's face it, most of us can't get to the live events anyway, so it really was nice of them IMO to extend at least a small piece of the festivities to everyone.

I don't think Volks has given up on Chicago. If anything, the Web Dolpa gave them more time to investigate and plan. Keep the faith. Wink

I have a question - and I don't mean to sound rude...but why exactly are we starting another letter campaign?

We had several letters that (should have been?) were sent with the cranes, many of which were from people who had originally given letters to Nena. If I recall correctly, there would have only been about 5 or so letters that we could not replace.

When we sent the box of cranes (and letters?), Volks seemed very open to the idea of having a Dolpa in Chicago but requested from us to do some ground work for them and obtain information regarding hotel/event space. We have not provided them with that information, and yet we are doing another letter campaign?

From my standpoint, I don't see the point in having another letter campaign....especially if we have not yet provided Volks the information they asked for.

I don't know how they, as a company, would take an additional request before the information is sent & they've had time to review it, but if it were me, I might be a little put off since information was requested & not yet received...

I personally do not feel comfortable writing a 2nd letter.

Just my 2 cents..

I thought the idea this time was to send the information they requested, along with a second batch of letters from Volks fans? Sort of an affirmation of the sentiments expressed with the first shipment. Sorry if I got it wrong.

Also, if I'm stepping on any toes by trying to collect letters, just let me know.

Yes thats kinda what I was thinking. I thought more peoples letters would just add to the previous ones showing them we really want to do it. We would also be sending all of Julies info. Personally I think my letter didn't get sent and that bothers me. I kinda feel like I didn't get to be part of it (and I don't know if others fee like this).

I agree with you, Greenie and BCN. If we send more letters, they would just be an accompaniment to the information Birju has so graciously gathered for us.

Tiarah, yes, I definitely sent the batch of letters you gave me with the cranes to Volks. I don't know how many letters Nena has or had in her possession, but I think it was more than 5. But if sending more letters is inapporpriate, I'm fine with not doing them. Birju's research is the important part! Very Happy

Nena had more, yes, but most of the ones she had were from local people who had the opportunity to rewrite their letters for the batch that was sent to Volks with the cranes.

I kinda think that it might be more effective if rather than another organized campaign, people just sent in their own letters individually.
Especially if you are one of those who felt like your voice might not have been heard the first time. I think it's kinda redundant to do another group and they'd be more likely to read it if it were more personal.

I see what tiarah is saying and I mostly agree. It seems to me that we would annoy them if we sent another big bunch of letters. I would be annoyed anyway, if I were Volks. I just don't know how they would take it and I don't want to scare them off by sounding pushy.

But if that's what everyone wants to do, then cool. I just want to proceed with caution at this point.
